The scanners

What is camera scanning?

Photographing film with cameras

Camera scanning means photographing each film frame with a digital camera and a macro lens instead of running it through a dedicated film scanner. The resolution comes from your camera sensor, so a 45 MP or 100 MP camera produces a 45 MP or 100 MP file. Most manual camera scanning setups make you advance and align every frame by hand. A General Film Labs scanner automates that part.

Designed and tested on real film by photographers who shoot it every week.
